Namaste-SUY scheme transforms life of Ghaziabad's Chetan Kumar, turning him into a self-reliant entrepreneur
Chetan Kumar Kaushik from Ghaziabad has overcome financial hardships to establish a successful sanitation service business with the help of the Namaste-SUY scheme. The 32-year-old, who previously struggled with financial constraints and family responsibilities, now earns between 40,000 and 50,000 rupees per month using his suction machine. The loan and subsidy support provided by the government has not only brought financial stability but also the confidence to lead a respectful life.

Chetan Kumar Kaushik, a 32-year-old resident of Sahibabad in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, has set a new example of self-reliance through his hard work and government support. Educated up to the 12th grade, Chetan had been working in sewer and septic tank cleaning for a long time. However, due to limited income, he was struggling with financial constraints, making it extremely challenging to fulfill his family responsibilities.
The most difficult phase of Chetan's life came when his mother fell seriously ill. As the sole breadwinner of the family, he spent most of his savings on her medical treatment. Unfortunately, his mother passed away in 2022, which left him emotionally and financially devastated. Despite this, he did not give up and continued his work.
The turning point arrived when he learned about the 'Namaste-SUY' (Swachhata Udyami Yojana) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Under this scheme, he received financial assistance to expand his business. For a project costing a total of 8.90 lakh rupees, he was provided with a loan of 5.42 lakh rupees and a capital subsidy of 3.47 lakh rupees.
With this support, Chetan modernized his suction machine operations and began providing better services. Today, his monthly income has reached between 40,000 and 50,000 rupees. He is regularly paying his loan installments and expects to be completely debt-free by October 2026.
Chetan's success is not limited to financial improvement alone. This scheme has given him recognition and respect in society as an entrepreneur. He believes that financial help received at the right time can change the direction of anyone's life.
This government initiative reflects the commitment to providing safe and sustainable livelihood opportunities to sanitation workers. Chetan's story is an inspiration for all those who have the courage to pursue their dreams even in adverse circumstances.
