Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the opening session of the Global FinTech Fest 2026 in Mumbai, highlighting India's significant digital and financial progress. He reflected on the country's remarkable fintech journey and the global success of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). Through this platform, the Prime Minister shared a clear vision for the future, calling for the fintech sector to reach new heights.

In his address, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to further expand the global footprint of UPI. He stated that the scope of fintech should not remain limited to payments but should be broadly extended to vital financial sectors such as credit, insurance, savings, investments, and pensions. This shift is expected to make financial inclusion more accessible for ordinary citizens.

Acknowledging the importance of technological innovation, the Prime Minister stressed the use of modern technologies like Agentic AI, tokenization, and quantum computing. He noted that the correct application of these tools would make the fintech ecosystem more capable. Simultaneously, he focused on the necessity of ensuring high-level cybersecurity and ethical data protection.

The Prime Minister suggested creating an effective index to strengthen consumer protection in the fintech sector. He remarked that while fostering innovation is crucial, maintaining customer trust is equally essential. He outlined four key priorities for the fintech industry, which will serve as the foundation for India's future financial strategy.

In his message, the Prime Minister emphasized that the pace of reforms in India will now accelerate further. He reiterated the government's commitment to continuity in economic policies and reform measures. The Prime Minister's address is being viewed as a guiding framework for fintech experts, policymakers, and entrepreneurs.

The Prime Minister's presence at the Global FinTech Fest 2026 has further strengthened global confidence in India's digital economy. He urged all stakeholders working in the fintech sector to collaborate to make India an even more powerful global fintech hub.
