Prayagraj: Major Action Taken Over Delay in Arrest of Bangladeshi Doctor, Two Police Officers Suspended

In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, significant action has been taken following a case where a Bangladeshi doctor was held at a police station for four days without an official arrest being recorded. The station house officer and the additional in-charge of Meja police station have been suspended for negligence in their duties. Senior officials took this step after recognizing the severity of the matter.

A case has emerged in the Meja police station area of Prayagraj where a Bangladeshi doctor was detained and kept at the station for four days. During this period, the police failed to officially record the arrest, which is considered a violation of established regulations.

Due to negligence in this matter, action has been taken against the in-charge of Meja police station and his additional counterpart. Following an investigation, senior police officials have suspended station house officer Jitendra Shukla and additional in-charge Kamlesh Yadav with immediate effect.

According to sources, while the police team had taken the doctor into custody, there was a delay in following the required legal procedures. The failure to document the arrest for four days raised questions at the departmental level.

Administrative officials stated that police are required to complete legal formalities within a specified timeframe after taking an individual into custody. The delay in this instance cast doubt on the police's operational procedures.

Following this suspension, there is a stir within the local police department. Senior officials have clarified that any form of dereliction of duty will not be tolerated.

Currently, the entire episode is under investigation to clarify why such a significant delay occurred in recording the arrest. The concerned officers may also be given an opportunity to provide their explanation.

The police department has treated this incident with seriousness and has issued strict instructions to prevent such errors in the future. Other aspects related to the case are also being monitored closely.
