Do not panic if your child has ear pain; expert shares simple ways to get relief

According to an NDTV India report, ear pain in children is not always caused by an infection. Pediatricians state that there are various other reasons for such discomfort. Parents should handle the situation with proper information rather than panicking when a child feels uneasy at night. The expert has shared home remedies and precautions that can help provide quick relief to the child.

According to a report by NDTV India, parents often become anxious when they hear complaints of ear pain from their children. Pediatricians strongly believe that not every discomfort in the ear is related to an infection. There can be several other physical reasons behind the pain, which are important to understand.

Experts suggest that when a child starts crying due to ear pain at night, one should first remain calm and assess the situation. Ear pain can be caused by various factors, such as water entering the ear, the accumulation of earwax, or pain radiating to the ear due to a sore throat.

Doctors advise that if the child is too young to express their discomfort, parents should observe their behavior. Frequently touching or pulling at the ear can be a major sign of pain. In such cases, keeping the child in a slightly elevated position instead of lying flat can help reduce pressure.

The report also mentions that one should not put any oil or medication inside the ear without professional medical advice. Doing so can prove dangerous for the child's delicate eardrum. As a home remedy, only light compresses on the outer area or precautions suggested by a doctor should be followed.

If the child has a high fever along with the pain or if there is any fluid discharge from the ear, it should not be ignored. In such a situation, contacting a pediatrician immediately is the safest option.

Ultimately, experts emphasize that parents should avoid taking wrong steps in a state of panic. Seeking the right advice at the right time is the most effective way to alleviate the child's suffering.
