Bhagwat Prasad Makwana has officially assumed the role of Chairman of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis. Regarding his professional background, Makwana has previously served as both the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Uttarakhand State Safai Karamchari Commission. Additionally, he has contributed his expertise as an independent director on the board of NHPC.
He has also been a member of the central monitoring committee established under the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013. These roles have provided him with deep insight into the challenges faced by sanitation workers.
