UP: OP Rajbhar targets SP and Congress for questioning SIR system, cites their 43 MPs victory

Uttar Pradesh Minister OP Rajbhar criticized the Samajwadi Party and Congress, pointing out that they secured 43 seats in the Lok Sabha elections under the same SIR system they are now questioning.

The debate over the SIR system has intensified in Uttar Pradesh politics. State Minister OP Rajbhar launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party and Congress. Rajbhar expressed his displeasure regarding the questions raised by opposition parties about this framework. He argued that the opposition alliance achieved success within this very electoral structure.

In his statement, Rajbhar cited data, noting that during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, 37 candidates from the Samajwadi Party were victorious in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, six members of the Congress party were also elected to Parliament through the same system.

The minister questioned why the opposition parties accepted their victories if the system was flawed. He accused opposition leaders of adopting double standards. According to Rajbhar, they remain silent when results favor them, but raise questions about the system at other times.

According to the Amar Ujala network report, Rajbhar's statement has become a topic of discussion in the state's political circles. He clarified that before suggesting any changes or questioning the electoral process, the opposition should analyze their previous victories.

This controversy arose when opposition parties expressed doubts about the fairness of the SIR system. Rajbhar dismissed this as entirely baseless, stating that everyone gets equal opportunities in the democratic process.

He further added that the public has given a mandate, and accepting it is the true beauty of democracy. Rajbhar advised the opposition to move away from negative politics and focus on development issues.

Finally, Rajbhar reiterated that the election results in Uttar Pradesh reflect the transparency of this system. He urged opposition parties to stop targeting constitutional arrangements for their wins and losses.
