VIMARSHNAARAD TVWith the festival of Raksha Bandhan approaching, the trade of adulterated food items has become active in Agra. According to reports from Amar Ujala, the administration has intercepted a large consignment of adulterated milk, paneer, and khoya being transported to Agra from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. These food items were found to contain highly harmful chemicals.
During the inspection, officials discovered that detergent was being mixed into the milk, which poses a significant risk to human health. Furthermore, whitener was being used to make the paneer appear whiter and more appealing. Such adulteration is a direct threat to public health.
In a recent related action, the administration intercepted 7,000 liters of substandard milk arriving from Morena. Prioritizing public health, the officials ensured that the entire quantity of the contaminated milk was destroyed on the spot.
The administration in Agra has become increasingly strict regarding the quality of food products arriving from outside the city. Taking advantage of the increased demand during festivals, some individuals are selling hazardous products for profit. These incidents have raised concerns among the local population.
Officials stated that a continuous campaign is being conducted against those involved in adulteration to ensure that people receive pure food items during the festival. Following the seizure of these consignments, close surveillance is now being maintained on the supply chain.
According to experts, consuming milk or paneer containing detergent and whitener can lead to severe gastrointestinal issues and other health complications. The administration has appealed to the public to avoid purchasing suspicious food items and to verify the quality of products before celebrating.
More intensive inspection drives are expected to be carried out by the administration in the coming days. Efforts are also being made to establish coordination at the inter-state level to dismantle this network of adulteration and completely stop such consignments from entering from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
