Ministry of Railways approves Rs 133 crore for four-lane road overbridge on Udhna-Ukai Songadh section
Indian Railways has approved the construction of a new four-lane road overbridge (ROB) on the Udhna-Ukai Songadh section of Western Railway. The project, costing Rs 133.22 crore, will be completed on a cost-sharing basis with the state government. This bridge will replace Level Crossing number 53, facilitating smoother traffic and making train operations safer and more efficient.

Indian Railways has taken a significant decision to strengthen infrastructure on the Udhna-Ukai Songadh section of Western Railway. The ministry has approved the construction of a four-lane road overbridge (ROB) to replace Level Crossing number 53 located at kilometer 62/2-4.
The total estimated cost of this project has been set at Rs 133.2295 crore. The expenditure for this construction work will be shared equally between Indian Railways and the state government, with each party contributing approximately Rs 66.61 crore.
Technical complexities have been considered in the construction of the bridge. Due to a 62-degree skew angle at the intersection, the design and construction work is challenging. Open web girders will be used in the main part of the bridge, costing approximately Rs 91.60 crore.
Under the project, the length of the viaduct section will be 311.58 meters, on which Rs 19.98 crore will be spent. Additionally, the length of the railway approach road will be 524.32 meters, with an estimated cost of Rs 10.25 crore.
The main objective of constructing this four-lane ROB is to facilitate smoother road traffic. This will reduce congestion at the level crossing and remove obstacles in railway operations.
The construction of grade-separated infrastructure will make train movement safer and more efficient. This will improve operational efficiency and provide better facilities to passengers.
This project is a major step towards enhancing safety standards on the Udhna-Ukai Songadh section. With the cooperation of the Railways and the state government, the goal is to complete this construction work in a timely manner.
