Lucknow: Gomti river floods worsen, several areas submerged, victims stop MLA convoy

The flood situation in Lucknow has become severe due to the rising water levels of the Gomti river. Several residential areas are submerged, causing significant damage to households. According to Amar Ujala, District Magistrate Vishakh G. and Joint Commissioner of Police Bablu Kumar visited the affected areas on Sunday. Meanwhile, frustrated flood victims stopped a convoy of MLAs to protest and voice their grievances regarding the ongoing crisis.

The flood crisis in Lucknow has intensified as the water level of the Gomti river continues to rise. Several low-lying areas, including parts of Gomti Nagar, are completely submerged. The floodwaters have entered homes, destroying household belongings and essential items for many residents.

According to reports from Amar Ujala, administrative officials took charge of the situation on Sunday. District Magistrate Vishakh G. and Joint Commissioner of Police Bablu Kumar visited the affected regions to assess the damage and oversee relief operations.

The plight of the flood victims is increasing steadily. Many have been forced to abandon their homes and seek shelter in safer locations. Efforts are underway to ensure the supply of food and medicine in the affected areas, though the situation remains challenging.

Meanwhile, the frustration of the flood-affected residents was evident. On Sunday, when a convoy of MLAs was passing through the area, the victims stopped them to register their protest regarding their grievances and the perceived delay in relief efforts.

The administration has stated that they are continuously monitoring the situation. Every possible effort is being made to provide assistance to those affected. Arrangements for relief camps are being organized to provide shelter to those who have been displaced.

This is a difficult time for residents living in the areas along the banks of the Gomti river. A true assessment of the damage will only be possible once the water levels recede. Currently, the administration's priority is to evacuate people safely and provide them with essential services.

As per Amar Ujala, the local administration has appealed to the public to avoid waterlogged areas and exercise caution. Rescue teams are working continuously to normalize the situation, and assurances have been given to provide all possible support to the victims.
