Shri Krishna Janmotsav: Householders and Vaishnava sects to celebrate Janmashtami together on September 4

Lord Krishna's birth anniversary will be celebrated on September 4 this year. Due to the auspicious combination of Ashtami Tithi and Rohini Nakshatra, all major sects, including Vaishnava and Ramanandi, have reached a consensus to observe the festival on the same day.

According to a report by Amar Ujala, a significant decision has been made regarding the celebration of Shri Krishna Janmotsav this year. Householders and members of the Vaishnava sect across the country will observe Janmashtami on September 4. While there is usually a tradition of celebrating on different days due to variations in lunar dates, the situation is different this time.

The primary reason behind this decision is the rare combination of the Ashtami Tithi and the Rohini Nakshatra. According to astrological calculations, the convergence of these two is considered highly auspicious. Consequently, all major sects have expressed their consensus to celebrate the festival on the same day.

Followers of the Vaishnava and Ramanandi sects will also observe the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna on September 4. This consensus among the sects is a welcome development for devotees. It is expected to create a unified atmosphere of devotion across the country.

Rohini Nakshatra holds a special place in religious beliefs. When it aligns with the Ashtami Tithi, it is considered the most appropriate time for the manifestation of the Lord. This alignment is occurring fully on September 4 this year.

Preparations for this special day have already begun in temples and homes. Devotees are enthusiastic about welcoming their deity. With the festival falling on a single day, collective celebrations are expected to be even more grand.

Leaders of various sects have also confirmed this date. They stated that the decision to fix September 4 for Janmashtami was made based on scriptural guidelines.

This event is not only significant from a religious perspective but also sends a message of unity among different sects. Devotees are now awaiting September 4 to perform their prayers and rituals with devotion.
