Harish Chandra Parbat, a 46-year-old native of Siwan district in Bihar, has transformed his economic situation through the Swachhata Udyami Yojana (SUY). Currently operating a tractor-cum-suction machine for sanitation services under the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation in the Sahibabad industrial area, Mr. Parbat's story is an example of self-reliance.

Moving to Delhi in 2015 in search of a better future, Mr. Parbat initially gained experience in challenging tasks like cleaning sewers and septic tanks. At that time, his monthly income ranged between 13,000 and 14,000 rupees, making it extremely difficult to manage household expenses, children's education, and support for his mother living in Bihar.

Despite his financial constraints, Mr. Parbat prioritized his children's education. He was determined to secure employment that would allow him to improve his family's standard of living. In November 2021, he received financial assistance under the Swachhata Udyami Yojana, which enabled him to purchase a tractor-cum-suction machine costing approximately 9.75 lakh rupees.

Under this scheme, he received a loan of over 6 lakh rupees and an upfront capital subsidy of approximately 3.68 lakh rupees. The introduction of mechanized equipment increased his operational capacity, and his monthly income rose to between 40,000 and 45,000 rupees. This improvement allowed him to bring his family to Delhi and provide his children with better educational opportunities.

Today, all three of his children are pursuing higher education in Delhi. His eldest son is in the final year of graduation, his second son is in the second year of B.Tech, and his daughter is in the first year of B.Tech. Mr. Parbat is not only covering his children's educational expenses with his hard-earned income but is also paying off loan installments and house rent on time.

Mr. Parbat states that his greatest achievement in life is his children's higher education. He proudly mentions that he is now living his life with confidence and dignity. By May 2026, his remaining loan amount had significantly decreased.

His journey demonstrates how government support and mechanized equipment can bring positive changes to the lives of sanitation professionals. Mr. Parbat's progress has not only brought financial security to his family but has also opened doors to a bright future for the next generation.
