Hathras: Major Accident Averted After Iron Girder Found on Railway Track, Engineer Suspended

A major train accident was narrowly avoided in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, after an iron girder was left on the railway tracks. The loco pilot of MEMU train 64582 acted promptly to stop the train, preventing a collision. According to Amar Ujala, Senior Section Engineer Jaish Sharma has been suspended for this serious negligence regarding track safety.

A serious lapse in safety occurred between Hathras Junction and Kila station, where an iron girder was left on the railway tracks. This obstruction posed a significant threat to train operations and passenger safety. When MEMU train 64582 was passing through the section, the loco pilot noticed the obstacle on the tracks.

Displaying quick thinking and professional alertness, the loco pilot applied emergency brakes to halt the train. This timely action prevented a collision with the girder, ensuring the safety of all passengers on board. Had the train not stopped in time, the consequences could have been severe.

Upon receiving information about the incident, railway authorities initiated an immediate investigation. The gravity of the situation prompted senior officials to look into the lapses that allowed the girder to remain on the tracks.

The investigation report identified Senior Section Engineer Jaish Sharma as responsible for the negligence. According to reports from Amar Ujala, the railway administration has suspended Jaish Sharma with immediate effect due to his failure to maintain safety standards.

Local railway officials emphasized that strict adherence to safety protocols is mandatory during track maintenance work. Leaving a girder on the tracks is considered a grave error that directly endangered train operations and passenger lives.

The railway department is now conducting a comprehensive review of the incident to prevent any recurrence. Efforts are being made to strengthen safety protocols to ensure that passenger travel remains secure and incident-free.

Following this incident, there has been significant discussion regarding safety management and staff accountability in the Hathras railway division. Train services are currently operating normally as the department continues its oversight of the affected section.
