National Pledge Ceremony on September 20 to unite youth for a drug-free India
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is organizing a National Pledge Ceremony across 1,000 locations on September 20. Facilitated by 'My Bharat' and partner organizations, the event aims to inspire youth to remain drug-free and provide them with a platform for engagement.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is conducting a massive national youth mobilization on September 20, 2026. As part of the 'Drug-Free Youth for Developed India' campaign, National Pledge Ceremonies will be held at 1,067 locations nationwide. This initiative is being implemented across 471 districts in collaboration with 'My Bharat' and various partner organizations.
The primary objective of the event is to administer a collective pledge to youth to lead a drug-free life. Awareness will be spread through signature campaigns, street plays, slogan writing, and youth-led discussions. Organizers believe this platform will provide young people with an opportunity to express their views and connect with their communities.
A vast network of educational institutions, industry associations, NGOs, and spiritual organizations is participating in this campaign. Notable participants include the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Heartfulness, and BAPS. Additionally, industry bodies such as ASSOCHAM, CII, and FICCI are also part of this network.
This event follows activities that began across the country on September 18. On the first day, 1,430 activities were conducted across all states and union territories, with over 146,000 participants. This is part of a 100-week ongoing campaign focusing on health, fitness, and life skills.
The first phase of the campaign prioritizes themes such as 'My Health, My Pride' and 'Healthy Youth, Drug-Free Youth'. According to the ministry, this mobilization is an effort to make youth aware of healthy choices and positively engage them in nation-building.
