VIMARSHNAARAD TVThe cooperative-based mobility service 'Bharat Taxi' has been launched in Uttar Pradesh. Union Minister of State for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol inaugurated the service at an event in Lucknow, attended by Chief Minister Yogi आदित्यनाथ and several senior state ministers. The service is now available in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Kanpur, and Prayagraj.
The core principle of 'Bharat Taxi' is 'Driver is the Owner.' Unlike traditional aggregator models where drivers must pay a portion of their earnings as commission, this cooperative model makes drivers direct partners in the service. This ensures that a larger share of the revenue reaches the drivers' accounts directly.
Highlighting the progress of the initiative, the Minister noted that over 1 million drivers have joined the service in the last six months. Approximately 4 million passengers have utilized the service, and over 100 crore rupees have been transferred to the drivers' accounts. In the five cities of Uttar Pradesh, nearly 40,000 drivers have registered.
During the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also launched the 'Chief Minister Krishak Samriddhi Yojana' portal. Additionally, the 'Urvarak Setu' mobile app and the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Database Center (UPCDC) app were unveiled. These initiatives aim to make the cooperative sector in the state more modern and transparent.
Regarding the efforts of the Ministry of Cooperation, it was stated that work is underway to computerize 80,000 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) across the country. In Uttar Pradesh, 6,300 PACS are being computerized. The state has also seen over 5.4 million new members join the cooperative membership campaign, which has been cited as an exemplary model.
The Minister emphasized that cooperation is no longer limited to agricultural credit but is being integrated into new sectors such as health, storage, and mobility. Efforts are also ongoing to revitalize cooperative banks and establish a cooperative college in the state. These initiatives represent a significant step toward realizing the Prime Minister's vision of 'Prosperity through Cooperation.'
