Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Prataprao Jadhav has written to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, requesting a performance by the Indian Air Force's Surya Kiran Aerobatic Display Team at prominent tourist sites in Maharashtra. He has proposed dates between November 23 and 25, 2026, for this event.

In his letter, the minister praised the precision and skill demonstrated by the Surya Kiran team during their aerial maneuvers. He noted that such displays not only showcase India's aviation capabilities but also generate significant public interest.

According to Jadhav, this event could serve as an effective medium to encourage youth to explore career opportunities within the Indian Air Force. He specifically highlighted the Lonar Crater Lake in Buldhana district, known for its unique geological features and saline water.

Furthermore, he pointed toward the Ajanta and Ellora caves as suitable locations for the display. Both sites are recognized globally for their historical and cultural significance and are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

The minister has requested the Ministry of Defence to grant the necessary approvals for organizing the Surya Kiran aerobatic display and related inspirational activities at Lonar, Ajanta, and Ellora. He also urged the issuance of appropriate instructions to the concerned officials.

The primary objective of this proposed event is to add a unique attraction to these sites. Additionally, it aims to highlight the rich natural and cultural heritage of Maharashtra while showcasing the nation's aviation excellence.

According to information released by the PIB, this initiative is intended to elevate the state's tourism sector. A final decision on the proposal from the Ministry of Defence is currently awaited.
