Jammu and Kashmir: The inspiring story of Sajjad, who overcame drug addiction to return to the cricket field
25-year-old Sajjad from Budgam has successfully overcome drug dependency. With the help of a government rehabilitation center, he not only improved his health but has also returned to cricket and is now inspiring youth through the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan'.

Sajjad (name changed), a 25-year-old resident of Budgam district in Jammu and Kashmir, has made a fresh start by leaving behind drug addiction. For Sajjad, a talented cricketer and graduate, this journey was challenging, but he remained resilient.
Drug abuse had severely impacted his physical health, emotional well-being, and sports career. This led him to face social isolation and a loss of self-confidence. His family also had to endure financial hardships and mental stress.
Sajjad received crucial support from the 'Charah Saaz' District De-addiction Centre, operated under the 'National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction' (NAPDDR). There, he was provided with free treatment, counseling, and psychological care.
His rehabilitation program included yoga, fitness sessions, computer training, and skill development. These efforts helped him become physically and mentally stronger, enabling his return to the mainstream of society.
Sajjad has not only conquered his addiction but has also returned to the cricket field. He is now also employed as a full-time worker.
Currently, Sajjad is an active campaigner for the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan'. By sharing his experiences, he is encouraging other youth to stay away from drugs and lead a healthy life.
According to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, timely treatment and rehabilitation can help affected individuals restore their self-confidence. Sajjad's story is proof that positive change in life is possible with the right guidance.
