Duleep Trophy Final: Ishan Kishan misses century, a look at the rare feat of twin tons

In the 2026 Duleep Trophy final, Ishan Kishan delivered a commendable performance with the bat. However, he was unable to reach the three-figure mark, losing his wicket at 80 runs. This dismissal prevented him from joining the elite list of batsmen who have scored centuries in both innings of a single Duleep Trophy match, a rare feat in domestic cricket.

According to NDTV India, while Kishan's batting was impressive, falling 20 runs short of a century was a setback. Historically, only 10 players have managed to score a century in each innings of a Duleep Trophy game. This achievement is considered a significant milestone for any cricketer in the Indian domestic circuit.

Kishan's aggressive approach drew attention from spectators and experts alike. His contribution in a high-stakes final was vital for his team. Despite missing the century, his efforts on the pitch received widespread appreciation from cricket followers.

The Duleep Trophy remains a prestigious platform where players showcase their skills to earn national recognition. Scoring two centuries in one match is a career-defining moment for any player. Although Kishan came close, he could not etch his name into this specific record book this time.

Cricket analysts suggest that this innings will serve as a confidence booster for the young batsman. He is expected to carry this momentum into future matches. The discussion surrounding his performance in the final continues to be a talking point in the cricketing community.

The 10 players who have previously achieved the twin-century feat are considered legends of the game. Kishan was on the verge of joining this prestigious group, but fell just short of the target.

Looking ahead, fans and selectors will be watching to see if Kishan can maintain this form. The Duleep Trophy final has certainly provided him with valuable experience as he continues his cricketing journey.
