VIMARSHNAARAD TVThe Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has intensified its campaign against illegal constructions across the city. According to information provided by corporation officials, 80 unauthorized structures have been demolished in various areas of the capital over the last two days. Alongside this, action has been taken to seal 24 properties that were found to be in violation of building regulations.
During a special enforcement drive conducted on Tuesday, MCD teams razed 40 illegal constructions. On the same day, 16 properties were sealed, and demolition orders were issued for four other cases. This operation is being carried out with the primary objective of ensuring strict adherence to the provisions of the Delhi Master Plan.
Beyond general illegal constructions, the corporation has also focused its attention on Paying Guest (PG) accommodations. A recent comprehensive survey identified 2,453 buildings currently operating as PGs. These buildings house approximately 55,000 residents, and the corporation is currently reviewing their safety standards and regulatory compliance.
Officials stated that this campaign to curb unauthorized construction will continue consistently across the city. The corporation's main focus remains on buildings constructed without proper approval or those where the usage violates Master Plan norms.
This crackdown has caused significant concern among property owners who have carried out construction work without obtaining the necessary clearances. The MCD has clarified that similar strict actions will be taken against non-compliant structures in the future as well.
Amidst Delhi's growing population and housing demands, illegal construction has emerged as a major challenge. The MCD's current initiative is viewed as an effort to address this issue and promote the organized development of the city.
According to data released by the corporation, enforcement teams will remain active in the coming days. Citizens have been urged to obtain all required legal permissions before commencing any construction work to avoid any potential inconvenience.
