PM Addresses International Conference on Environment and Climate Dynamics, Highlights India's Green Achievements

The Prime Minister addressed an international conference on environment and climate dynamics, emphasizing India's green initiatives. He noted that India has fulfilled its Paris Agreement commitments ahead of schedule. Through significant growth in solar energy capacity, promotion of electric vehicles, and water conservation efforts, India is moving rapidly toward sustainable development.

Addressing an international conference on the future of environment and climate dynamics, the Prime Minister stated that India is addressing climate challenges by blending ancient traditions with a modern vision. He clarified that India's per capita contribution to global carbon emissions remains significantly lower than that of developed nations.

The Prime Minister highlighted that India is the only G20 country to have fulfilled all its Paris COP-21 commitments ahead of schedule. Over the past 12 years, India's solar energy capacity has surged from 2 gigawatts to over 160 gigawatts. Under the 'PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana', rooftop solar panels have been installed in more than 5 million households.

Regarding progress in clean mobility, the Prime Minister noted a 950-fold increase in electric vehicle sales. Furthermore, the expansion of the metro network and the 100 percent electrification of railways have proven instrumental in environmental protection. He also cited the introduction of hydrogen trains and dedicated freight corridors as major achievements of modern India.

Referring to campaigns like 'Amrit Sarovar' and 'Catch the Rain' for water conservation, he stated that India has set new benchmarks in water management. Promoting 'Shree Anna' (millets) in the agricultural sector has reduced water consumption and increased farmers' incomes.

Emphasizing natural farming and the increase in forest cover, the Prime Minister noted that India's 'very dense forest cover' has grown by over 22 percent in the last 12 years. He also highlighted waste management under the 'Waste to Wealth' model and the ban on single-use plastic as critical steps. In conclusion, he affirmed that India's development is not only rapid but also sustainable, reflecting a responsibility toward the future of humanity.
