Belgian rockets will now be made in India, major defense agreement signed between Thales and Kalyani Group

To strengthen India's defense capabilities, Thales and Kalyani Strategic Systems have entered into a significant partnership. Under this agreement, 70-mm non-guided and laser-guided rockets will be developed and manufactured in India. This initiative will enhance the country's indigenous defense production capacity, with the first fully Indian rocket expected to be ready by early 2027.

Giving a new direction to India's defense manufacturing capacity, Thales and Kalyani Strategic Systems have announced a strategic partnership. The main objective of this agreement is to manufacture advanced rocket systems in India. This step is being considered a significant effort toward the country's defense self-reliance.

Under this partnership, 70-mm non-guided and laser-guided rockets will be developed and produced. These rockets are known for their precision and strike capability, which will further strengthen the Indian Air Force's air strike capabilities in the future.

According to the agreement, these rockets will be manufactured entirely in India. This is a major step toward promoting technology transfer and local manufacturing. This will not only increase the availability of defense equipment but will also lead to the development of technical skills in the country.

Providing information about the project timeline, it was stated that the first fully Indian rocket would be ready by the beginning of 2027. Both companies will work together to achieve this goal and utilize their expertise.

Defense experts believe that such agreements will help establish India as a significant player in the global defense market. Indigenous manufacturing will reduce dependence on foreign sources and make state-of-the-art weapons easily available to the Indian armed forces.

This initiative is part of the major changes happening in the defense sector under the 'Make in India' campaign. This collaboration between the Kalyani Group and Thales could prove to be a milestone in meeting future defense requirements.
