Preparations for the Government of India's 'Special Campaign 6' are progressing rapidly across various ministries and departments. Under the guidance of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the initiative is currently in its preparatory phase, which runs from September 16 to September 30, 2026. The main implementation phase is scheduled to take place from October 2 to October 31, 2026.

During this preparatory period, nodal officers have been appointed and trained across all relevant offices, public sector undertakings, and autonomous bodies. Their primary responsibilities include identifying pending matters, finalizing lists of offices for cleanliness drives, and establishing procedures for e-waste disposal. Furthermore, departments are drafting plans for office space upgrades, improved record management, and the preservation of historical documents.

Progress is being monitored through a dedicated web portal where all ministries are required to upload their specific targets. Recently, a second review meeting was chaired by DARPG Secretary Nivedita Shukla Verma. The session saw participation from over 800 officials virtually and more than 40 senior officers in person, all focused on evaluating the campaign's readiness.

During the meeting, DARPG Additional Secretary Puneet Yadav presented a progress report. Various ministries, including the Department of Posts, the Ministry of Railways, the Department of Defence Production, and the Ministry of Agriculture, shared their previous achievements and future plans. The Secretary encouraged officials to ensure the campaign reaches all regional offices and autonomous bodies to make it the most extensive effort to date.

Awareness regarding the campaign is being generated through electronic, print, and social media platforms. To date, over 1,000 tweets have been posted under the #SpecialCampaign6 hashtag, reflecting widespread engagement. This active participation underscores the government's commitment to the success of the initiative.

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances is compiling a collection of best practices adopted during this campaign. This document is set to be released as part of the Good Governance Week 2026 activities. The government aims to enhance operational efficiency and foster a transparent administrative environment through improved cleanliness and systematic record management.
